A topic that I am interested in is the concept of rivalries and how people are born/placed into them. I think the works I might use are The Outsiders, Romeo and Juliet and also the 30 for 30 films for the Celtics vs Lakers.

    It is interesting to tie something like sports into books like Romeo and Juliet and The Outsiders. It isn't something I would have thought of but its a really cool idea.

    I think that´s a really cool topic where you compare Nature v. Nurture stuff and could allow you to also maybe focus on how the authors create certain characters to be at odds with others and how it allows the stories to progress. It also could tie into character development and could focus possibly on the changing relationships throughout certain stories.

    I think it would be really interesting to connect literary rivalries to sports rivalries! That's a really unique idea I definitely wouldn't have thought of. You could possibly discuss how family ties both isolate and connect people.

Texts: American Gods  and The God Delusion Topic: The Evolution of Religion and the Different Forms It Takes Focus 1: This would focus on the difference between The God Delusion ´s message of the very idea of God or gods existing being a ridiculous notion and American Gods ´ message of thinking, seeing, or experiencing some aspect of our lives being a form of worship towards said aspect, making it a deity. The God Delusion ´s message stands firm in the belief that there are no higher powers, but Neil Gaiman has a different idea. For my thesis I was thinking of exploring the books/movies Forest Gump, Great Gatsby, Slumdog Millionaire or Berlin Boxing Club. I was thinking of using the theme of thriving when the odds are against you. Not sure though, any advice is more than welcome, please help.
