Thesis Topic
I know I want to base my thesis on either Go Down, Moses or Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner. I also might use Huck Finn. Some of the themes I am interested in are paternity and legacy, or maybe the distinction between civilization and the wild.
I like the distinction between civilization and the wild. There is definitely something to be said about that topic in Huck Finn.
ReplyDeleteI also like the distinction between civilization and wild. I think using those texts would work really well for you
ReplyDeleteThere's certainly enough to write about in Faulkner's works, but if you want to connect Twain's novel, there could be some compelling connections. I love the idea of paternity/legacy as well as the natural world vs. civilization. You could also consider the intersection of race/racism with these topics (which is central to both Twain and Faulkner's works). I think you'll have no trouble finding secondary criticism on these works. I'm excited to work on this thesis with you!
ReplyDeleteI like the topic you're thinking about writing about it's very interesting. Maybe think about referencing the book Lord of the Flies.
